Playing the Drums

Highlights

Music has been an integral part of my life since I was first drawn to the beat listening to Foster the People at age 3. I began playing drums on plastic jars and a toy kit my parents bought me, and started lessons at 5. Later, I started to explore the piano, bass, and guitar, but I always came back to the drums.

Entering high school, I joined the Jazz Rock Band, where I fell in love with music performance before switching to Jazz Band two years later. This prompted me to begin Prep Band and Jam Club (PB&J), as I felt that music was underrepresented in the extra-curricular Performing Arts at Flintridge Prep. Through the club, I was consistently invited to volunteer at events both on and off campus (senior homes, fundraisers, school festivals, etc.) and was able to spread my love for music with the broader community.

Outside of school, I participated in Jazz Combos at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and attended the Stanford Jazz Workshop’s Jazz Institute, where I continued to hone my musicality and expand my connection with others.

Family Business

I used to watch my dad process orders through a cumbersome process using spreadsheets and emails.

In recent years, as AI became a larger part of our lives, I began to see it often utilized in businesses, doing menial tasks faster than any human could. I realized I could utilize it myself to make his work easier, so I built an online B2B Wholesale Portal, refining the workflow.

Processing orders and creating their respective documents once took upwards of an hour—now they can be completed in under 2 minutes, with 100% accuracy.

Used Claude Code, Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript, PostgreSQL (Neon), Prisma, better-auth, react-pdf, ExcelJS. Hosted on Railway with a custom domain. Currently live on wholesale.mijeongpark.com.

My mom is the label’s designer—design & production features tailored around her planned for the future, as well as scaling to other independent designers in the fashion industry.

DrumCover Project

I recently purchased a Yamaha EAD20 Electric Acoustic Drum Module in order to get high quality recordings of my drumming.

I wanted to be able to create drum cover videos and record auditions, but I was tired of making backing tracks, recording audio and video separately, and transferring files between devices to layer things together.

To solve this, I developed DrumCover, an app that allows me to both practice and record extremely efficiently.

  • AI beat detection & stem separation (mix in-app)

  • Apple Continuity Camera to use phone as a webcam (auto-synced)

  • Backing track edits & arrangements

  • Slow down/speed up for practice

  • More features planned for the future—making public
